World War I Day

Event Information

World War I Day

Join us on our WWI Day to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, on Saturday 10 November.

Talk with British, Austro-Hungarian and US WWI troops, see what their kit and weapons would have looked like and ask them questions about life during the war.

Sing along to Music Hall and wartime music with the Merrymakers’ Music Hall at 11:30 & 13:00.

Take in some outdoor theatre with ‘Your Country Needs You’ at 14:30.  Written especially for the centenary, ‘Your Country Needs You’ is a new play from Quantum Theatre, which explores the outbreak of war and its effects on the everyday lives of those both at home and on the front.  Using original source material, songs and poems from the time, it will provide you with a wartime experience that you’ll never forget.

Visitors will also be able to see the castle’s new outdoor exhibition exploring wartime stories from the people of Pembroke, and learn some fun wartime facts in our children's quiz around the grounds.

There is no need to book, and all of the events during our WWI Day are included in castle admission.
