We are currently open to all visitors and thought that it would be useful to let our visitors know what we are doing to keep our staff and visitors safe.
We have been assessing the Covid-19 situation daily and have assessed the risks posed to all of our operations. The safety and wellbeing of our staff and visitors is our highest priority during these unsettling times.
We have put into place a significantly increased cleaning regime, and we are closely monitoring our staff for any symptoms of the virus.
Following the Prime Minister’s advice on Monday 16th March we have taken the following steps to encourage social distancing. We are until further notice cancelling our free daily guided tours. This is because the tours will normally attract sizeable groups of our visitors and the staff member to be in close proximity for long periods in enclosed spaces. We have decided to cancel any group bookings in the up-coming weeks to lessen the possibility of large groups arriving at the castle. We are encouraging all of our visitors to use contactless payment where possible.
The Castle is very large and mostly open space and there is ample room at the moment for our visitors to enjoy the grounds and exhibition rooms, shop and cafe without having to come into close contact with others. Disposable crockery and cutlery is being used in the cafe to reduce the opportunity for the virus to be passed on to our staff and visitors.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update this website if there are any changes to our policy.
Finally, thank you for your support during these unsettling times, as an independent charitable trust we depend on our visitors support a great deal and it is much appreciated.
