SOLD OUT - UB40 (Rock the Castle 2018)

THIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUT.

On Saturday 16th June 2018, the world’s most successful reggae band, UB40 are set to rock the castle!  With well known hits such as Red Red Wine, I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, and Kingston Town, it is sure to be a fantastic night.

Formed in the summer of 1978, the band named themselves after an unemployment benefit form, and began rehearsing in a Birmingham basement. In the 80s and 90s, UB40 filled the charts, and reignited the global popularity of reggae. After nearly four decades of success, UB40 are a household name and considered one of the biggest UK music acts of all time, having had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Charts, and sold over 70 million records worldwide.

Today the band remain a headline fixture at festivals, and continue to tour internationally.  Still made up of their key founding members, with the exception of lead singer Ali Campbell’s replacement by his brother, Duncan Campbell, in 2008, UB40 are Robin Campbell (co-lead vocals and guitar), Duncan Campbell (lead vocals) Earl Falconer (bass, vocal), Brian Travers (sax and keyboards), Jimmy Brown (drums), Norman Hassan (percussion, vocals). The band also features Martin Meredith (sax) and Lawrence Parry (trumpet), who have both been in UB40’s touring line-up for over twenty years, and Tony Mullins (keyboards), creating a genre-defining synergy of horns and rhythm section that are uniquely UB40.

Support on the Saturday for headliners UB40 comes from DJ Gold Dubs who will excite the crowd with his classic set of reggae dance hits.  Gold Dubs has supported UB40 on their most recent UK and European tours and is guaranteed to get the crowd in the mood for the main act.  First on the bill will be Pembroke’s very own Connor Adams.  14-year-old Connor is a singer songwriter who has burst onto the local music scene, mixing covers of classic hits with his own material.  Connor is a prolific songwriter and is currently in the process of producing his own album.
