Event Information

Gabrielle | Sister Sledge | Jazz Morley

Vocal legends Gabrielle and Sister Sledge will co-headline the second night of our Rock The Castle weekend on Saturday 22nd June 2019.  The iconic, all female, line-up is completed with support from exciting singer-songwriter, Jazz Morley.

Gabrielle’s unique and compelling voice is one of the most recognisable in British pop history.  Since her debut single Dreams reached No.1 in the UK 25 years ago, she has sold over five million albums, won two Brit Awards, two Mobos and an Ivor Novello.

She secured nine top ten hits from her first three albums, with singles such as Give Me A Little More Time, Sunshine, Rise, and Out of Reach becoming instant R&B classics.  Earlier this year she released Under My Skin, her sixth studio album, full of lavishly produced, classy, sing-along hits it went straight into the UK top 10.

Sister Sledge are one of the most iconic female groups of all time.  They formed in 1971 but became a global success in 1979 with the release of We Are Family, an album produced by Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards, that propelled them to become a global household name.

An array of hits followed, such as He’s the Greatest Dancer, Lost in Music, Thinking of You, and Frankie, which stayed at the top of the UK charts for four weeks in 1985.  They have performed at the Ali-Foreman “Rumble in the Jungle” boxing match, The White House, Glastonbury festival and for Pope Francis in their home town Philadelphia in 2015.  It will be the first time this legendary US group has performed in Pembrokeshire.

Jazz Morley is a British singer-songwriter making waves with her beautiful soul-influenced electronica.  She has been compared to the likes of Jessie Ware, Lana Del Rey and Sia, with her influences range from Whitney Houston to Fleetwood Mac.  Her music has been widely supported across national BBC radio with her recent single ‘Wash Over Me’ receiving further support from Fearne Cotton at BBC Radio 2. Jazz also lists Elton John as a fan who has shown his support online and on his Beats 1 radio show, ‘Elton Johns Rocket Hour’ citing Jazz a “fantastic!” and “Representative of the new era for music".

Now in its 6th year, Rock The Castle has become one of the most popular live music events in west Wales with the likes of UB40, The Fratellis, and Jools Holland all having played sell-out shows in the stunning 1,000 year old fortress in the past few years.

The opening night of the Rock The Castle weekend will be headlined by Status Quo with support from very special guest Bonnie Tyler and R&B legends Dr Feelgood.
